Panel Beaters Brisbane

Panel beating is a trade, not a production line. At MRP Automotive Refinishing, damaged metal is reshaped, worked and finished by panel beaters who also build and restore race cars — then refinished to factory match in the same workshop. Brisbane drivers come to Redland Bay for repairs they want done once and done properly, whether that's accident damage, an insurance repair or a panel nobody else wants to save.

True Metal Craft

Beating, shrinking, shaping and metal finishing — the hands-on trade skills that separate a repaired panel from a filled one.

Panel + Paint Together

Metalwork and refinishing under one roof means no handover gaps — and a lifetime warranty on the paintwork we apply.

Since 2008

Family-owned and operating from Redland Bay since 2008 — more than 2,000 vehicles through the workshop.

Written, Itemised Quotes

Every quote is written, itemised and based on what your panel actually needs — not a one-size price off a chart.

What a Real Panel Beater Does

Modern collision repair has drifted toward replace-and-refit: swap the panel, blend the paint, move the car through. There's a place for that — sometimes a replacement panel genuinely is the right call — but it has made proper panel beating harder to find in Brisbane. Reshaping stretched metal, shrinking it back, working a crease out from behind and metal-finishing the surface so it needs minimal filler: that is the actual trade, and it's the difference between a panel that's repaired and one that's hidden.

Our panel beaters do this work daily, on everything from late-model daily drivers to classic restorations and race car builds where replacement panels simply don't exist and the metal has to be made right. That standard flows back into ordinary repair work: the same hands, the same eye, the same refusal to bury a bad repair under filler. Once the metal is true, the panel moves to our booth for factory-matched refinishing — one workshop, start to finish.

Based in Redland Bay, we take panel work from across greater Brisbane. If you're local to the Redlands, our Redlands panel beating page covers the neighbourhood service; this page is for everyone else who's decided the quality of the repair matters more than the distance to the workshop.

Panel Beating Services for Brisbane Vehicles

Accident & Collision Panel Work

Doors, guards, quarters, bonnets and boots reshaped or replaced after an impact — assessed honestly for repair versus replacement, then refinished to match. Larger structural jobs run through our collision repair process.

Insurance & Private Repairs

Written assessments and documentation that support insurance repair enquiries, and straight-talking quotes for private jobs where a claim isn't worth your excess or premium.

Restoration-Grade Metalwork

Rust repair sections, hand-shaped patches and panel fabrication for classics and race cars — the work that keeps irreplaceable vehicles on the road, done by beaters who treat metal as the craft it is.

Dents, Creases & Small Panel Damage

Not every job is a rebuild. Isolated dents, creases and car-park damage are handled through our dent and scratch repair service — same standards, smaller scope.

Our Panel Beating Process

Photos First

Send clear photos of the damage from a few angles. For most jobs we can give you a realistic range and tell you whether the panel looks repairable before you drive anywhere.

Inspection & Written Quote

At the workshop we check what the surface is hiding — stretched metal, prior repairs, hidden rust — and provide a written, itemised quote for repair or replacement.

Metalwork

The panel is beaten, shrunk and shaped back to true, metal-finished to minimise filler, and prepared for refinishing. Replacement panels are test-fitted and aligned before paint.

Refinish & Return

Colour-matched refinishing in our booth, reassembly, inspection and a walk-through at handover. The paintwork carries our lifetime warranty.

Panel Beaters Serving All of Brisbane

MRP Automotive Refinishing works on vehicles from right across Brisbane — the Southside especially, but customers cross the city for restoration metalwork and repairs where the standard of the result matters. We're a specialist workshop, not a volume repair centre: vehicles are booked so the panel beaters can give each job the hours it needs, and you deal with the people doing the work. If you're weighing up whether we're worth the drive from your side of town, send photos of the damage — we'll give you an honest answer on scope, cost range and timing before you commit to anything.

Panel Beating FAQs

In practice the terms overlap heavily. Panel beating is the metalwork trade itself — reshaping, shrinking and finishing damaged panels — while smash repair describes the whole process of returning an accident-damaged vehicle to the road, which includes panel beating, refinishing and reassembly. MRP Automotive Refinishing does both: our panel beaters handle the metal, and our refinishers handle the paint, in the same workshop.

It depends on the panel, the depth and spread of the damage, and whether the panel can be repaired or needs replacement. Minor single-panel repairs sit at the affordable end; structural damage or multiple panels cost more. Because the damage under the surface often differs from what is visible, we quote from an inspection or clear photos rather than guessing — every quote is written and itemised.

Yes. We assist with insurance repair enquiries, provide written assessments and photographs that support your claim, and carry out the repair once the path forward is confirmed. Depending on your policy, you can often nominate your own repairer. We also handle private repairs where a claim is not worth making.

Yes. Our workshop is at Redland Bay on Brisbane's southside, and customers come to us from across greater Brisbane — particularly for work where quality matters more than convenience, like restoration panel work, colour-sensitive refinishing and repairs they want done once and done properly. Send photos first and we will tell you honestly whether the job justifies the trip.

Often, yes — it is a matter of economics rather than possibility. Our panel beaters do restoration-grade metalwork, including shaping repair sections for classic and race vehicles where replacement panels no longer exist. For everyday vehicles, we will tell you plainly when a replacement panel is the more sensible spend than hours of metalwork.
